Spiritual Life
At the request of the Flandreau Indian School Student Body a full time Chaplain/Religious Coordinator has been made available to the school.
The Religious Coordinator for FIS is Reverend
Ronald McKinney. The (Rev. Ron) Chaplain's office is located in the Homeliving
Building, room number 114. Ron can be reached at extension 175.
You are invited and welcome to drop by Reverend
Ron's office at your convenience. After school,
students may make phone calls, or stop by and look
at old yearbooks, or just visit.
During the school year, there will be many and varied Religious Activities open to all the students. The Flandreau Indian School student Chapel is located at the main entrance to the campus. Every Sunday Worship Services are conducted with and for the FIS students beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Music is an integral part of worship, and students are
invited to participate, sharing their musical talent.
After worship, students are welcome to stay for
fellowship time for reflection, video games, playing the
guitar or keyboard, or just hanging out.
On
Wednesday evenings at FIS students are invited to
participate in the activities provided by the Chaplaincy
program. This may include movies, night hikes,
campfires and fishing.
Students of the Flandreau Indian School are always invited and welcome to attend any church in the community of Flandreau. Those of us who serve in the Religious Activities department are looking forward to meeting you and coming to know you during this school year at the Flandreau Indian School.
